Widespread Occurrence of Glyphosate-Resistant Hairy Fleabane (Erigeron bonariensis L.) in Colombia and Weed Control Alternatives

چکیده
Glyphosate, the most applied herbicide globally, offers effective non-selective and post-emergent weed control. Evolution of herbicide-resistant weeds is commonly associated with recurrent application herbicides same mode action. Native to South America, hairy fleabane (Erigeron bonariensis L.) problematic in this sub-continent has previously been confirmed glyphosate resistant. This research aimed at characterizing glyphosate-resistant populations, thus estimating frequency resistance, resistance levels identifying alternatives control populations. Glyphosate characterization was initially conducted on ten suspected populations collected plantain, banana, cassava, passionfruit, papaya, drybean crops. Two resistant were selected further characterized through dose-response tests; addition, response alternative (paraquat, glufosinate, 2,4-D, pyraflufen-ethyl, mesotrione) determined. All surveyed survived (≥80% individuals) recommended rate 1080 g ae ha−1; conversely, five from non-cropping areas effectively controlled rate. Dose-response tests estimated factors 3.15- 22.3-fold versus susceptible population. Interestingly, profile detected hormesis responses field-recommended rates. The pyraflufen-ethyl mesotrione.

Control of Flaxleaf Fleabane (Conyza bonariensis) in Wheat and Sorghum
Flaxleaf fleabane is a difficult-to-control weed in dryland minimum tillage farming systems in the northeast grains region of Australia. Experiments were conducted between 2003 and 2005 to identify effective control strategies on flaxleaf fleabane in wheat and sorghum. A preplant application of chlorsulfuron at 15 g ai/ha in wheat controlled flaxleaf fleabane $ 90%. The efficacy of early postem...

Twelve field trials were conducted over a three-year period (2010, 2011, 2012) at different locations in southwestern Ontario, Canada to compare various two-pass weed management strategies in glyphosate-resistant corn for crop injury, weed control, environmental impact, corn yield and profit margin. No visible injury resulted from the herbicide treatments evaluated. One early postemergence (EPO...

I n a world of more than 6 billion people, humans heavily rely on the dependable cultivation of the global food grain crops: rice, wheat, soybeans, maize (and cotton for fiber). History shows that threats to food production have major repercussions, including famine, war, and civil unrest. A major threat to food production occurs every single growing season, when wild plant species (weeds) infe...
متن کاملOccurrence and Mechanisms of Weed Resistance to Glyphosate
Glyphosate is a nonselective foliar-applied herbicide that has been used for over 20 years for the management of annual, perennial, and biennial herbaceous species of grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds, as well as woody brush and tree species (Bradshaw et al. 1997). Commercialization of engineered glyphosate resistance in several crop species has further expanded the in-crop use of the herbic...
